She Reads Truth

Over the last two weeks I have struggled to figure out what to write about, because I haven’t really been in the kitchen or out doing anything exciting, so I feel like maybe I haven’t been living very blog-worthy, but then it dawned on me “Its my blog and I can post what I want to!”

Today I finished a study on the Sermon on the Mount and I loved it! So I wanted to write a little review/recommendation for the website I use for my reading plans….

My study set up

I am excited to talk about something that I have come to love and it has encouraged me so much in my daily walk with Jesus. For a long time I struggled with setting time aside to spend reading, journaling and just getting to know Jesus. While on a trip to Hume Lake, a staff member, who is a dear friend of mine suggested an App called SHE READS TRUTH. I decided to check it out when I got down the hill and it significantly changed the way I read and study the Bible and how I spend time with God.

She Reads Truth is both a website and an App for your iPhones, Androids & Tablets and I highly recommend it! It has over 20 reading plans from specific books of the Bible, Topics, Hymns and even Advent and Lent. All these studies are written by women, for women. You can either do the studies online only or purchase the adorable study books from the online store (I’ve purchased Hebrews and Titus), you can also purchase SRT gear, stickers. artwork and so much more!

Not only does this amazing site get you into the Bible and cultivates a desire to spend time reading and studying, it also has some great little extra features like: a Bible App, photo edits, notes and marks and my favorite, wallpapers for your phones and tablets, like these!

Women in the Word- New Testament

So I highly recommend this App/Website to anyone struggling to find direction in how to read the Bible on a daily basis or if you just want some encouragement from women who love Jesus and love the Bible!

So please check it out and I hope you become as obsessed with it as I have but more importantly I hope it creates a love for Jesus and His Word like it has for me!

Baking for two

If you are anything like me, I always bake too much! John and I are pretty healthy eaters and we tend to lack a sweet tooth, which is really hard because I LOVE to bake, but I have recently gotten into “small batch” baking!  This has been a huge saver on waste and time and it enables me to bake without feeling bad about no one eating it!

So tonight, while John is at his anatomy study group, I whipped up a little batch of  [ S N I C K E R D O O D L E S ]

Here’s what you need

4 Tbsp butter, room temp

6 Tbsp sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp cream of tartar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 Tbsp sugar

Preheat Oven to 350

My cookies came out really thin because i had no cream of tartar ( sad day), so I had to use baking powder instead…I’m sad about it however they still turned out yummy just not fluffy!

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.

tir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. If dough is still quite sticky then stir in a bit more flour, a tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached. (I ended up using 1/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp for mine)

Using a small cookie scoop (about 1 Tbsp), scoop out dough onto prepared cookie sheet. Take each ball and roll it in the cinnamon sugar and place back on the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake at 350 until bottoms are lightly browned, about 8 minutes.
